Gospel Transformation
Our mission is to put on display the true hope of Jesus. One of our key values that will help us accomplish our mission is living relentless in prayer. To live out of this value we want to institute Thursdays as important corporate day of Prayer and Fasting for True Hope Collister. On these days we unite our voices around a central theme connected to our vision and pray together in an effort to discern God’s will for our church.
This week we focus our prayer on Gospel Transformation.
Today’s Scripture: 2 Corinthians 5:11-21
Focus: Gospel Transformation
Fasting: Consider fasting a meal and utilizing that time to pray specifically through this guide.
Read: 2 Corinthians 5:11-21
14 Either way, Christ’s love controls us. Since we believe that Christ died for all, we also believe that we have all died to our old life. 15 He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them. 16 So we have stopped evaluating others from a human point of view. At one time we thought of Christ merely from a human point of view. How differently we know him now! 17 This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! (NLT)
Reflect: What does it mean to have Christ’s love control us? How is it a gift that we have died to our old life? How can you live today out of the truth that you are a new person?
Pray: Thank God for the life and work of Jesus and how that brings new life? Ask God to apply any shame you may be feeling today to the work of Jesus and to empower you to live out of the truth of who He says you are. (View Immersion Sheets)
Read: Re-read 2 Corinthians 5:11-21.
Reflect & Journal: Where are you currently struggling to live out of your new identity. Where are you feeling the need for transformation?
Pray: Confess that struggle to the Father and claim the truth of the cross to erase that shame.
Pray over True Hope Collister: Pray for wisdom as we engage what gospel transformation means regarding a building to create enough space for children and teens.
