Making Disciples

Our mission is to put on display the true hope of Jesus. One of our key values that will help us accomplish our mission is living relentless in prayer. To live out of this value we want to institute Thursdays as an important corporate day of Prayer and Fasting for True Hope Collister.  On these days we unite our voices around a central theme connected to our vision and pray together in an effort to discern God’s will for our church.

This week we focus our prayer on Making Disciples.

Today’s Scripture: Matthew 28:18-20

Focus: Making Disciples

Fasting: Consider fasting a meal and utilizing that time to pray specifically through this guide.

Read: Matthew 28:18-20

18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Reflect: What is God asking us to do? What is his provision to help us accomplish this Kingdom-Building task?

Pray: Ask God to reveal to you 3 people he is calling you to engage, do life together with and disciple.

Read: Read Matthew 28:18-20 again.

Reflect & Journal: We are called to multiply disciples - the help others discover who Jesus is, experience Jesus in the everyday stuff of life, and through that experience learn what it means to follow him. What does it mean to teach others to observe all the Jesus has commanded? The most effective way to teach is to exemplify. Where is God asking you to follow him today - to observe all that he has commanded?

Pray: Confess and ask God to enable you to follow him in this area. Ask him who to share this realization with and share this with them.

Pray over True Hope Collister: We have been praying for wisdom to know how to proceed with our need for more space. Ask God again what his will is in light of the last 5 weeks of prayer. What is his will with a building that will enable us to make disciples who experience Gospel Transformation, live devoted to God’s Word, live relentless in prayer and committed in community.
