Week 4 - Hebrews: Christ is Better
Hebrews 4:1-13
Finding Inner Rest
God cautions against unbelief and hardening our hearts towards his word because only those who believe/have faith (confidence grounded in reality) can enter into His glorious, eternal rest.
1. We are meant to draw a direct comparison between the Exodus story and the gospel of Christ.
2. Truth merely heard is of no value to us – God wants faith.
3. There are two different types of rest: Lesser Rest (Promised Land) & the Lasting Rest.
4. Hardness of heart is a great threat to faith.
5. Allow the Bible to cut you – revealing your belief (or unbelief) and bring you into rest.
