Joining A Movement - Joining True Hope Church
I think it is safe to say that we all desire to be a part of something significant, lasting, and transformative in our lifetime. A movement that allows us to be transformed from the ordinary to world-changer. What if I were to tell you that I could guarantee you could be a part of something like this? You may think that I am crazy, but the truth is, this grand movement is the church. When we make the effort to determine what church God has called us to belong to and why He has called us to join it, we now have all that we need to usher in the epic.
Aren't We Already Members of Christ's Church?
Yes. We already belong to the universal church of Jesus Christ. We joined that movement the day we were said yes to trusting Jesus, given His Holy Spirit, and received salvation. Yet God's plan for the last 2,000 years has been that His people identify and commit to that church's local expression. That local expression is real people, gathered in a location who together strive to bring God's kingdom to their particular place on earth.
Is There Added Value in Becoming a Member of a Church?
All of us are Christians because God loved us and was committed to us to the point of sending His Son to die for us. And most of us enjoy the ministry of True Hope Church because for over the last 155+ years, people have given and sacrificed for this ministry and its mission.
There is a point in a love relationship when two people decide it's time to get married, go public, take the plunge and say, "I do." This decision is a big step and ultimately a shared commitment to one another. They, in effect, are going on record with their marriage covenant. I think there is great value in this concept - even as it applies to church membership.
If you have been the recipient of this ministry, and have enjoyed the fruit of others' commitment to their Lord and His church, then I ask you to become an investor/partner/owner in True Hope Church. Go on record as one who stands with us and with those who have gone before us. Become a member of True Hope Church.
Are There Any Special Benefits?
Not really. As a member, you become a partner in the decision-making process. You have a voice and a vote. You become a person we can count on as one vested in seeing True Hope succeed spiritually, financially, and missionally. Also, membership forms the fishing pond for future leaders of the church.
What is the Nature of My Commitment?
As a member of True Hope Church, I will strive to:
Live a life of obedience to Christ.
Attend worship services regularly.
Give to God faithfully.
Use my gifts and talents to achieve God's calling in ministry.
Love by caring, praying, and bearing burdens with others. (We believe the best vehicle for this to be accomplished is to join a missional community.)
Be accountable to the overseeing work of the spiritual leaders of the church.
Look for opportunities to engage in spiritual conversations with those around you and invite them into community with you.
