10 Back to School Prayers
There is something about Back to School that makes me want to walk down the school supply aisle of Walmart and smell all the fresh waiting-to-be-written-on paper, the glue, erasers and markers. Even though my children have been out of school for a few years now, I still get nostalgic and a little homesick for those days. Does that make sense? I still pray for my children even if it is not back to school time for them—these scripture prayers still apply. I am cheering for all you moms and dads and grandmas and grandpas and all those who love and lead kids. Check out a few of these scripture prayer ideas. This continues to be my favorite way to pray of my children.

“This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” – Psalm 118:24. God, thank you for this new day. Thank you for all the blessings and challenges that it will bring. “Love your neighbor as yourself.” – Mark 12:31
Lord, help [child’s name] to love their neighbor as themselves. Help them to show love to friends, classmates, teachers, and everyone they meet at school. “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” – Proverbs 27:17
God, please bring good friends into [child’s name]’s life. Help them to find those people who will bring out the best in each other. Help them to choose friends who know you, or who want to know you, and friends who will build them up, challenge them, and support them. Amen.
“For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love.” – 2 Peter 1:5-8
God, please help [child’s name] grow in goodness, in knowledge, in self-control, in perseverance, in goodliness, and in love. May they grow into the person that you intended them to be, reaching their full potential and shining your light in the world for all to see. Amen.
